danielle marilyn west (she/her/they/them) is an educator, organizer, and philanthropic advisor. danielle’s organizing work over the past 20 years has focused on defending and amplifying oppressed communities’ capacity for survival and resistance while also recruiting and politicizing privileged communities to build solidarity. Raised in a white working- and middle-class Ohio settler family, danni is a woman of trans experience in her late thirties. danni has been a guest living in Ohlone Territories (Oakland, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz, California) for the past 15 years.
Before leaning into movement building consultation and philanthropic advising, danielle was the Development Director at Resource Generation (RG, 2018-2020) and before that she was the Development Director at Transgender, Gender-Variant, Intersex Justice Project (TGIJP, 2014-2016). danielle was on the founding leadership team of TAJA’s Coalition in San Francisco, she has held leadership positions nationally with Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) and predecessor white anti-racist formations, and she has collaborated with Grassroots Institute for Fundraising Training (GIFT).
In 2018 danielle was selected to be among the inaugural cohort of Rockwood Leadership Institute’s Resource Leaders Fellowship and in 2016 she was selected as a fellow for Coca-Cola’s Next Generation LGBTQ Leaders’ Initiative. Passionate about people power, danni grounds her work in organization development and resource redistribution as part of the legacy and tradition of struggle for abolition, reparations and liberation.
